Job details

Material for this job

Roof sheets and new flashings use this material. Each flashing can be changed on its own.

Printed on every flashing on the order sheet so the folder knows how to read the sizes. Check which one your supplier works to.

How this works

  1. Roof: trace each roof face on a satellite screenshot.
  2. Sheets: every sheet length is worked out, including hip and valley cuts.
  3. Site check: confirm the key sizes with a tape and a photo.
  4. Flashings: draw each flashing and type its sizes on the drawing.
  5. Order: one order sheet with the roof sheets and every flashing.

Image and scale

Screenshot the roof in Google Maps satellite view (north up) and upload it. In the finished app the job address would open straight onto the map.

In Google Maps, right-click one end of a straight eave, pick Measure distance and click the other end. Tap the same two points here and enter that length.

Trace the roof faces

Tap the corners of one roof face, close it, then tap its gutter edge. Corners snap to ones already placed so hips and valleys line up.

Sheets run straight down the slope, square to each face's gutter edge.

    Site check

Measure each item with a tape and type the reading. Add a photo showing the tape so the office can check it. Measured numbers replace the map estimates.

    Gutter runs

Every gutter edge picked on the Roof tab is a gutter run. Lengths use the site-check measurement when there is one. Corners and stop ends are found from where the runs meet.

    RunLengthEndsDownpipes

Tap on a gutter to place a downpipe. Tap a downpipe to remove it. Distances are from the start of the run (the first end in the Ends column). Runs with nothing placed show the guide count as dashed circles.

The starting count per run is plan roof area ÷ this figure. It's a rough guide only. Size and place downpipes to AS/NZS 3500.3 for the site's rainfall, then place them on the plan.
